STAY AWAY! As many of you may already know, service in San Miguel de Allende may be great, and I would say it often is, especially in most of its amazing restaurants, for example. However, there are some vendors who routinely try to take advantage of the booming demand for many items, especially in the housing and home improvement sector. This company is PERFECT EXAMPLE of what to avoid! Unless you start off being an ultra-demanding bully, something I am not prone to do since I am a nice person, companies like this will fail you at all levels, especially once they are paid. Here are the details of my HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE: Firstly, their prices were high and they did not accept credit cards (unless I wanted to pay a significantly higher price AND a 4% fee on top of it). Nonetheless, we agreed to pay the price (in full, another ridiculous requirement) because they PROMISED to deliver the room full of marble tiles the following Monday, just days after we ordered them. Given that we had a deadline, we agreed. AFTER the money cleared my bank, the nonsense started. What a coincidence! First, we were informed that they "made a mistake," that they didn't have the tiles we ordered locally and would need to get them from across the country, a process they said usually takes up to 3 weeks. I explained CLEARLY that 3 weeks would be too long, that we only bought them from them (vs. another well-known vendor in SMA) BECAUSE they assured us on the fast turnaround time. I explicitly said that we needed them within 2 weeks at the absolute latest. They agreed they would meet the already adjusted deadline. As you might be guessing already by now, that also didn't happen. Instead, the owners and managers put the girl who worked at the store - Paulina - the only pleasant part of our experience, in a corner, giving her one excuse after another to relay to us as to the "problems" they had. These included a recent update - 3 days ago - that the tiles were on the way from Puebla. Logic would dictate that we would get them in a day or so from then, right? No. Not with this company. They connected us to the delivery service (they didn't care anywhere since they were paid in full) who delayed for a day or two more, then told us they needed to rent a separate pick-up truck since the trailer they had couldn't access Centro. Obviously, this is something that should have been planned for. It got worse from there... Now Friday afternoon, we had to handle several calls form the delivery guy who, although he was only 15 minutes away, was INCAPABLE OF FINDING OUR HOUSE with the given address. It is a simple house in Centro on a main street in clear view. So, I had to take another 30 minutes of my day to go meet him so he could follow me back. Then, since delivery didn't include them taking the 35 bundles of 10 very heavy tiles out of the pickup, I had to do it myself with a neighbor. This company is new and I hope conveying my experience of their awful treatment, including consistently poor communication, helps others stay away, and that they eventually are forced to close. SMA is a GREAT city with many great residents and local businesses. Companies like this, however, are among the few who TARNISH SMA'S REPUTATION by treating residents with utter disrespect and terrible service!
